The no-fare policy will take effect on Monday night Due to Snow Emergency.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) – Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) suspended public transportation on Monday night due to a level 2 emergency that was issued for Franklin County.

COTA suspends travel fares when Franklin County is under a snow emergency of 2 or 3 to encourage those who have to travel to take public goods instead of their cars in an effort to reduce road accidents.

COTA said the policy of not charging the fare would apply to the remainder of the first day of service with the declaration of an emergency level 2 or 3 of the snow. The policy covers all transit vehicles, including the repair route, Mainstream, COTA / Plus, and other COTA vehicles.

The COTA transportation service ends on Monday night at 11 pm.
